Terms and Conditions

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

• "We", "Us", "Our" refers to EL Removals.
• "You", "Your" refers to the customer using our services.
• "Services" refers to removal, packing, storage, and related services provided by us.
• "Goods" refers to items being moved or stored.

2. Quotations and Pricing

• All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated.
• Quotations are based on information provided by you. If the actual work differs significantly, we reserve the right to adjust the price accordingly.
• Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
• Additional charges may apply for services not included in the original quotation, such as waiting time, additional items, or difficult access.
• Payment terms will be specified in your quotation.

3. Booking and Cancellation

3.1 Booking Confirmation

A booking is confirmed once you have accepted our quotation in writing (email accepted) and paid any required deposit.

3.2 Cancellation by Customer

• Cancellations made more than 7 days before the move date: Full deposit refund.
• Cancellations made 3-7 days before the move date: 50% deposit retained.
• Cancellations made less than 3 days before the move date: Full deposit retained.

3.3 Cancellation by Us

We reserve the right to cancel a booking due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will provide as much notice as possible and offer alternative dates or a full refund.

4. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Provide accurate information about the items to be moved and access conditions.
• Ensure all items are ready for collection at the agreed time.
• Obtain any necessary parking permits or access arrangements.
• Inform us of any items requiring special handling (fragile, valuable, or hazardous).
• Ensure someone over 18 is present at both collection and delivery addresses.
• Not include prohibited items (see section 5).

5. Prohibited Items

We will not transport the following items:

• Illegal substances or items
• Firearms, ammunition, or explosives
• Hazardous materials (chemicals, flammables, corrosives)
• Perishable food items
• Living plants (unless agreed in writing)
• Pets or animals
• Cash, jewellery, or important documents (unless specifically agreed)

6. Insurance and Liability

6.1 Our Insurance

We maintain public liability insurance and goods in transit insurance. Details of our insurance coverage are available upon request.

6.2 Limitations

We are not liable for:

• Damage to items packed by you (unless due to our negligence)
• Pre-existing damage or defects
• Items of extraordinary value not declared to us
• Damage caused by events beyond our control (force majeure)
• Mechanical or electrical faults in appliances
• Damage to items left in furniture (drawers, pockets, etc.)

6.3 Claims

Any claims for damage or loss must be notified to us in writing within 7 days of delivery. We will investigate all claims fairly and promptly.

7. Payment

• A deposit may be required to confirm your booking.
• The balance is due on completion of the move unless otherwise agreed.
• We accept payment by bank transfer, cash, or card.
• Late payments may incur additional charges.
• We reserve the right to retain goods until full payment is received.

8. Delays

While we endeavour to arrive at the agreed time, we cannot be held responsible for delays caused by:

• Traffic conditions
• Weather conditions
• Previous jobs overrunning
• Access issues at collection or delivery addresses
• Events beyond our reasonable control

9. Disputes

If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us in writing. We will endeavour to resolve any issues fairly and promptly. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms applicable to your booking will be those in effect at the time of booking confirmation.
